About Blue Heron Gallery

Stephen Yusko ironwork

The Blue Heron Gallery offers contemporary craft of the highest quality. Representing craftspeople from Maine and all over the world since 1987, we have relocated to a lovely, airy, new building in the village of Deer Isle, Maine.

Work of more than 100 artists, selected by Gallery owner Sue Wilmot, is on exhibit all summer. Although the Blue Heron is known for its fine collection of functional ceramics, the gallery also features the work of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Penland School of Crafts faculty. Selected artists from the juried craft shows of the Smithsonian Institution and the Philadelphia Museum of Art are represented as well. You will find splendid examples of contemporary pottery, blown glass, wood furniture and accessories, fiber, forged iron, jewelry, paper, and mixed media.

Receptions are held throughout the summer on Sunday afternoons (see calendar for dates). Come for a visual treat or perhaps to add to your collection. It has been said that the Blue Heron Gallery has the best work on the East Coast.
